Why PEPFAR should be re-authorized
The U.S. should not abdicate it's leading role in combating HIV/AIDS
On October 30th, the deadline for funding the program which has been largely responsible for fighting HIV/AIDS around the world, PEPFAR (short for “Presidents Emergency Plan For AIDS Relief”), expired when it wasn’t renewed by the United States Congress. There is now a big question mark hanging over the long term survival of the governmental initiative which has been in place since 2003.
